Irma snitched the matches and ran to the barn to play.  Old family story.

Hair of the Dog House

Today, instead of painting a house, I remodeled a birdhouse.  The walls are river birch bark, the front step is an oyster shell-so very Eastern Shore-and the white wispy smoke coming from the chimney was supplied by

Martha, who appreciated the extra cookies after grooming.

Candyman's Barn

6x6 inches oil

not trying to be clever or meaningful here-I just happened to be listening to the song by the Grateful Dead while I was painting.

Margarita Maker

pen/ink and a splash of watercolor

I was given a Vitamix by my brother-in-law for Christmas.  Truly a great gift.  I know there are a million things you can do with this machine but for now, it's most useful as a smoothie and margarita maker.

Go Ravens

pencil and ink sketch

Today the awesome Baltimore Ravens will go against the Patriots in the playoffs.   I thought about drawing a raven but Martha begging for nachos seemed more appealing.

House of Hay

12x16 oil

I seem to be on a barn run.
Happy to say, Martha is responding to medication and is returning to the happy-go-lucky lab we know and love.

Dog Tired

My sweet Martha spent many days being poked by vets to finally conclude that she has Addison's Disease.

Walking for Wood

Nancy and I went to Wye Island this morning and walked the Ferry Landing Trail.  The pathway was littered with osage oranges which look like fluorescent brains or maybe troll bombs

At the beach we searched for driftwood

among the oyster beds.

Here's the haul for future art projects.

Little Home #2

Here's a wood and copper birdhouse I picked up at West Virginia's Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Fair in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. WVA Mountain Heritage A&C Fair.   I love craft fairs:  junk food, music, and innovative happy people.

Little Home #1

Bought this house today.   Put it on the mantle, surrounded it with things I found on a walk with Martha, added some lights, and that was my art experience for the day.
