Yesterday I went to a flea market, gardened, oil painted on my town banner which is hanging in the garage, and painted furniture. I had this piece of furniture up in the attic and I needed another table for the porch.
Out came the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint -old white. In no time at all, the table was done. Love this paint. After struggling with oil paints, this water based paint is very relaxing.
You can't tell but the blue bleeds through the white. I also painted this house I found at the flea market for $4 with Duck Egg Blue. I guess it is an old letter box-it has a combination and brass door and a slot for the mail. I forgot to do a before shot. It was pine wood.
This is a pretty small slot for a letter. Maybe it's a bank?
My trusty companion was bored and a little irritated by this whole adventure.
I then painted a clay flower pot and an olive oil bottle, both blue. A little thyme in the pot and a sprig of eucalyptus in the bottle. Eucalyptus is the exact same color of Duck Egg Blue. Next time I'll photograph out of the shadows so you can see what I'm talking about. So the table needs new knobs-maybe something with a fern on it. Then I'll wax the top to make it water resistant.

Looks like you had fun with all this painting. You say the colour blue showed through, I guessed perhaps it did, what we call a distressed look, very popular and very cool.
I can see that you get a great deal of satisfaction from recycling which is absolutely wonderful. As a world we are too ready to throw away things that could be re-used and given a new lease of life.
Chris - how charming - love your old table. Nice to fix up something and enjoy. Thanks for sharing it. God Bless.
Wow. I'm exhausted just reading about all you did! But maybe that's because I spent the day at a blazing hot park trying to corral a billion first graders!! I'm kidding it was fun. But I digress, this is your blog after all. ;)
I am so impressed with your paint colors, and I can see the blue bleeding through, it looks artfully aged. And there's sweet Martha girl! She does look a tad bored, he he. :)
